Revision history for Kubernetes-REST-Deprecated

1.105     2026-08-08 02:32:08Z

    First release. Permanent home for CPAN redirect ("tombstone") stub
    modules covering Kubernetes::REST modules that were genuinely removed
    within the Kubernetes-REST distribution's own release history (PAUSE
    indexes per module name, not per distribution, so an in-dist removal
    orphans the old name exactly the same way a cross-distribution rename
    does).

    * Tombstones -- the old per-endpoint v0 API (1012 classes).
      Kubernetes::REST's 1.000 "v1 rewrite" (2026-02-13) replaced one
      generated Call::* class per API operation, across every API group and
      version, plus 10 v0-only helper modules (CallContext, Apis, Logs,
      Extensions, Result2Hash, ListToRequest, Result2Object, Settings,
      Version, Auditregistration), with a single unified API on
      Kubernetes::REST itself. Every one of the 1012 only ever emitted a
      deprecation warning since 1.000 (never functional in the 1.x series).
      Kubernetes-REST 1.104 was the last CPAN release to ship even that
      warning stub -- all 1012 were then dropped from the distribution
      outright. Full list: lib/Kubernetes/REST/Deprecated.pm POD (grouped
      summary) or t/01-tombstones.t (exhaustive).

    * Considered but not shipped -- the Kubernetes::REST::V0Group family
      (V0Group itself plus 17 subclasses: Core, Apps, Batch, Networking,
      RbacAuthorization, etc.) reads as deprecated in its own POD too, but
      is a working AUTOLOAD-based compatibility shim still wired up as live
      accessors on Kubernetes::REST ($api->Core, $api->Apps, ...). Not an
      orphan -- still ships, still works. No tombstone. Recorded in
      lib/Kubernetes/REST/Deprecated.pm's POD so a future audit doesn't
      rediscover and mistakenly tombstone it.

    * Mechanism
        - Every file in this dist versions normally and uniformly with
          dzil (no version_finder override), starting at 1.105 -- the
          next version after Kubernetes-REST 1.104, the last CPAN release
          that shipped these module names (as warning stubs) -- so PAUSE
          indexes this dist as canonical for the old names and `cpanm
          Old::Module::Name` installs the redirect instead of the stale
          pre-removal code.
